I’m looking to buy an inexpensive bike to ride around campus. Contact me at [email protected] if you have one.
I am selling a fully functional Giant Defy 2 aluminum road bike. Bicycle Magazine awarded this bike its 2013 Editor’s Choice award, and it has been a “trusty steed” for me, never stranding me or requiring a major repair. This bike is ideal for someone looking to get into road biking without having to dive into the major investment of a new road bike.
— 2013 Giant Defy 2 road bike (all stock components)
— (2) mounted bottle cages
— 700 x 25 tires (Gatorskin rear) with 50% life
— Option of used Shimano SPD clipless pedals or stock, nylon strap pedals
I can ONLY be in Hanover to sell this bike on FRIDAY, JANUARY 2. Contact me if you would like to see and consider purchasing the bike, and we can arrange to meet on Friday. I am relocating to the West Coast for the winter and want to avoid shipping the bike, thus my reason for selling the bike now and at a reasonable asking price.
I rode this FRAME across the U.S. during the summer of 2013 (note: I did not use frame-packs, and I am a light 140-lb rider) and for one season of lower-division collegiate racing. I used a different wheelset and cassette for the majority of that riding, and the stock Giant SR-2 wheelset and Shimano Tiagra cassette have roughly 500 miles on them. The front rim sustained light damage and went out of true after colliding with another rider’s wheel; the wheel has since been trued and exhibits no wobble but does have a flat spot (~1mm hop). The frame has cosmetic scratches and a chip in the paint on the right chainstay. The current chain has several hundred miles on it, all cables were replaced last winter, the big chainring shows normal wear, the bottom bracket has seen regular service, the bike shifts cleanly, and the headset bearings were replaced by Drummond Cycles in Enfield, NH.
I will accept cash, check, or electronic payments via Paypal, Venmo, or Google Wallet.

**NOTE: unfortunately, I am not near the bike at the time of this posting, so the photos I display are NOT current. Go by the description of the bike in the condition section; the photos are of the bike for sale but are outdated!
